Chennai, 18 September 2026: MapSDG an AI-powered SDG management and reporting platform for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) to strengthen the institution’s efforts in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) mapping, impact documentation, data-driven reporting, and sustainability-related ranking documentation.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) M. Palani Natha Raja, Dean – IQAC, SRMIST, Dr. Paromita Chakraborty, who currently heads the Centre for Research in Environment, Sustainability Advocacy and Climate Change (REACH) under the Directorate of Research, SRMIST, and AN Henry Maris, CEO, MapSDG.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) M. Palani Natha Raja highlighted the value of the MapSDG platform in supporting SRMIST’s ranking documentation and reporting processes. The platform has helped bring together institutional data and SDG-related activities in a structured manner, supporting the institution in documenting and presenting its sustainability initiatives.
The MoU marks an important step towards strengthening collaboration between SRMIST and MapSDG. The collaboration aims to support the systematic integration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) across institutional activities, while enabling faculty and academic stakeholders to document, map, monitor, and communicate their contributions towards sustainable development. Through MapSDG, the institution can streamline the process of capturing, mapping, tracking, and documenting its contributions towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the MoU signing, a MapSDG Platform Training Session was conducted for faculty members, providing participants with an overview of the platform and its application in academic and institutional activities. The session enabled faculty members to understand how their activities and contributions can be documented and aligned with relevant SDGs and institutional reporting requirements areas such as teaching and learning, research, extension activities, institutional initiatives, campus sustainability, governance, and other impact-oriented activities.
The collaboration reflects the growing importance of technology-enabled sustainability management in higher education, where institutions are increasingly looking to integrate academic, research, outreach, governance, and campus initiatives into measurable and structured impact reporting.
MapSDG is designed to help higher education institutions move from fragmented SDG documentation towards a more structured approach to strategise, measure, manage, and report their sustainability initiatives. The platform supports HEIs in collecting and mapping institutional activities to the SDGs and generating structured information for sustainability, accreditation, and ranking-related reporting.
Speaking on the collaboration, the MapSDG team expressed its appreciation to SRM REACH and the SRMIST faculty community for their support, participation, and engagement during the MoU signing and training programme.
