Malé, Maldives – [24.10.2024]: Villa College, one of the leading institutions of higher education in the Maldives, has entered into a strategic partnership with MapSDG (www.mapsdg.com), a global leader in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) tracking and reporting software. The two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at promoting sustainability education, research, and the use of technology to further the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The MoU was formalized at a ceremony held at Villa College with key representatives from both Villa College and MapSDG in attendance. This partnership represents a major step forward in Villa College’s commitment to equipping its students with the tools and knowledge to become advocates for sustainable development, and MapSDG’s mission to bring cutting-edge technology to educational institutions worldwide for tracking and managing SDG progress.
Highlights of the MoU:

- Incorporation of SDGs into the Curriculum: Villa College will integrate the Sustainable Development Goals into various academic programs, enabling students to engage with real-world challenges through a sustainability lens.

- Technology for SDG Tracking: MapSDG will provide access to its advanced SDG tracking and reporting software, allowing students and faculty at Villa College to monitor sustainability projects and measure their impact effectively.

- Collaborative Research Initiatives: Both institutions will jointly work on research projects that address pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges in the Maldives and beyond, with a focus on sustainability.

- Capacity Building and Training: Through this MoU, MapSDG will offer specialized training programs to Villa College students and faculty, enhancing their skills in sustainability reporting and data management.

- Community Engagement: Villa College and MapSDG will collaborate on initiatives that engage the local Maldivian community in sustainable development activities, fostering a greater sense of responsibility and awareness of global and local sustainability issues.
